Comments:The sampan with an eye at the prow is particular to the sampans in South Vietnam. The conic hat points to Vietnam. The usual color of the silt-laden Mekong water is brownish and here it is black indicating that the picture is taken late in the afternoon in a polluted creek near an urban area. The sampan is empty meaning that it is a small ferry waiting for passengers and the lady is steadily anchoring her sampan for the photograph with her strong grip at the vertically-held row.
